Judy Anthony, R.N., has been part of Haddleton & Associates for many years. We are one of the very few law firms with a nurse on staff.
In providing for clients and their families, preparing wills and trusts and the other documents needed for estate, tax, and Medicaid planning is not enough. We need to be able to help our clients deal with the myriad of issues that arise when someone in their family becomes frail or ill.
Judy, a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Social Worker, completed her nursing studies at Salem Hospital. She studied at Salem State College and received a Master's Degree from Lesley College in Health Care Management.
Judy has a special interest in Alzheimers and other types of dementia. She supervised the first clinical trial in the United States of a drug designed to treat Alzheimer's Disease. She facilitates a support group for Alzheimer's Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, is on the Advisory Board for Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, and is a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, and the Case Management Society of America.
Dealing with family members who can no longer take care of themselves is very burdensome, and sometimes actually frightening. You are suddenly faced with understanding problems that did not exist before, talking with medical personnel about illnesses you probably never before knew about, choosing an assisted living facility or a nursing home, sorting out provisions in a long-term care contract, and planning for Medicaid. All of these things Judy can help you with.
Medicare, Medicaid, and other programs will probably become more limited, and at the same time, more complex, as the Congress changes the requirements for participation. You will need the best advice Judy and the rest of our firm are here to help you.
On our website, Haddletonlaw.com we will post some of the changes wrought as a result of the recent budget, and we will also be mentioning them in future Notes.
