We Need Your Input

Irene has gone, leaving a few downed trees and a thick layer of salt on the windows of my house. Next weekend it will be time for the ladder and the hose.

Haddleton & Associates is planning a series of meetings with clients. (I hate the term "seminar" which I think is over-used.)

We are planning four or five small meetings (fifteen or twenty people) and a larger meeting to which we can invite as many people as would like to attend. We need to hear from you as to what you would like to explore at these meetings.

It is almost time to think about heading south, and some people may be planning to change their official residence (technically their "domicile") to Florida or some other state. We will talk about what it takes to move your domicile from Massachusetts to Florida, and we will discuss protecting your Massachusetts home from the Massachusetts estate tax.

Next year, Congress will once again be in the throes of deciding what federal estate tax scheme will work best. Taxation has been described as the art of plucking the goose with as many feathers and as little hissing as possible. We will share with you some of the possible tax plans.

Every year the Medicaid program has been tightening the requirements for benefits. Money will be harder to come by next year, and we expect Medicaid planning to be more difficult. We will tell you some things you can do now.

Do you need a trust? We can discuss the outlines which will tell you whether you should have a trust or not.

We will mention what provisions should be in a power of attorney, and discuss the new Florida requirement.

These are only a few of the items on the agenda. Let us know what interests you. We may not be able to respond to every question, but we will cover as broad an area as possible.

If you send us an email, and you do not receive the expected reply, please call us on the phone. Errant electrons do go astray, and we want to be sure we receive the benefit of your comments.
