We show clients how to structure business and professional ventures, and reduce taxes to the extent possible during the years they are working. Later, when they are retired and they or their loved ones become ill or disabled, we advise them as to their options with respect to life care planning. If they are entitled to receive benefits under Medicaid or the VA, we help them to maximize their benefits.
One of the areas in which we work with clients is to assist them in working through the problems that arise when they or their loved ones become disabled. This disability may be something like arthritis, which makes it hard for people to get about and do their daily tasks, to Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, which can wreak havoc on an entire family.
Judy Anthony, a key member of our firm, is a Geriatric Care Manager. She is a registered nurse, and a licensed social worker, and has many years of experience working with people with physical, emotional, or mental disabilities. Judy understands that very often when the loved one of a client becomes ill, decisive action is necessary to deal with the burden on the caregivers in the family. Often family caregivers can find the care of a loved one overwhelming, and, without help, they may become sick as well.
Judy is familiar with the community resources - ranging from home health aides, respite facilities, and assisted living residences to nursing homes and hospitals. Judy is also aware of the government benefits which are available through the Medicaid program and the Veteran's Administration, and helps our clients by preparing Medicaid applications for them and guiding them through the maze of government requirements.
